Are there chickens in your neighborhood?

Chickens I find it oddly coincidental that I ran across this article in the Herald about people in Snohomish county raising chickens (in the city) just a day or so after I realized that one of the houses in my neighborhood had a chicken coop tucked away along side of it.

There are lots of reasons for keeping chickens, and most people probably wouldn’t even know they were around unless you got a rooster.  Is this the newest green trend? Chickens can eat our scraps, keep the bugs out of our yards and even if you aren’t up for eating your new feathered friends, they do lay eggs which kick butt over store bought ones.

Where do you weigh in on this one? Should we allow people to keep chickens and ducks (which I hear are easier to take care of than chickens?)  I am really interested to hear people weigh in on this one!
